Certification for Human Resource Professionals
The SHRM Learning System

An intensive 12-week program designed primarily for individuals seeking certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR
) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

We offer this program in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The curriculum, designed by subject matter experts, covers the 2009 HR Certification Institute Body of Knowledge and includes application exercises that develop specific competencies and decision-making skills. As a certification preparation program, it consistently beats the national pass rate.

Course Materials
The SHRM Learning System offers a variety of study features that reinforce concepts and help you prepare for the certification exam:

  • Comprehensive bank of test questions – more than 1,600 in all
  • Practice tests formatted to mimic the current HR Certification Institute exam experience

  • The SPHR Preparation Book, designed specifically for SPHR candidates, focuses on the strategic-thinking approach of the SPHR exam
  • Access to the online Resource Center, featuring HR updates, Webcasts, test-taking tips, related links, feedback opportunities and eFlashcards that can be printed or downloaded to a PDA
  • Two new free webcasts on Union Organizing and Collective Bargaining available through the online Resource Center. Other archived webcasts highlighting essential topics are available 24 hours a day.

Eligibility

To earn either the PHR designation or the SPHR designation, you must have at least two years of exempt-level experience.

The course is designed for managers and staff in general management or human resource management positions:

  • PHR professionals seeking to “upgrade” their certification to SPHR

HR Certification Institute Test Dates:
All certification testing is computer-based and conducted at the 250 Prometric Test Centers around the country. The next testing period is December 1, 2009–January 31, 2010. To avoid a late fee, register for your exam by October 9, 2009. For best results, schedule your certification exam for a date that is after the end of your particular class section. Investment

A course fee of $1,095 includes the SHRM Learning System print modules, online learning software or CD-ROM, access to the online Resource Center, instructor handouts and 36 hours of classroom instruction. To allow time to order your course materials, please register by September 1, 2009. * A discounted rate of $995 is available to members of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Diane DeRubertis
Diane DeRubertis
, SPHR, has been in the human resources field for over 20 years.  She currently holds the position of Human Resources Consultant for the Operations division of National City. Prior to working for National City, DeRubertis was an independent consultant working with clients across the human resources disciplines. DeRubertis has assisted organizations in designing sourcing and retention strategies or developing effective training, benefits and compensation programs as well as managing large scale HRIS implementations.  She enjoys keeping current by teaching the SHRM Learning System® program and learning from the participants.  DeRubertis holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Kent State University.
