Along with Kent State students and alumni, our very own Dr. Fran Dorsey, associate professor of Pan-African studies and director of the African Community Theatre, is starring in a new 30-minute television drama titled Such Is Life. The pilot episode premieres this Sunday, July 30, on Channel 43 (WUAB) at 2:30 p.m.
Produced and taped in the Cleveland area, the show focuses on family and the relationships between the members of the Lewis family. Dorsey plays the role of Harper, the patriarch, alongside Kent State student Carla Smith, who plays his daughter Chloe. In addition, several Kent State alumni have various roles in the drama.
An additional six episodes are currently being filmed, and the series will air this fall in Indianapolis and Chicago. For more information about the show, visit the Such Is Life Web site.
Kent State remains one of only a few universities in the nation that houses an African Community Theatre as part of its Department of Pan-African Studies.
