Thomas R. Hensley received his B.A. in 1965 from Simpson College, his M.A. from the University of Iowa in 1967, and his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 1970. His primary teaching and research interests are in the field of law and the courts, with specific research interests in civil rights and liberties, Supreme Court decision making, and the implementation and impact of judicial decisions. He is the co-author of The Changing Supreme Court: Constitutional Rights and Liberties with Chris Smith and Joyce Baugh (West/Wadsworth: 1997) and is under contract to write a new book entitled, The Rehnquist Court: Justices, Rulings, Legacies. He has won numerous teaching awards, including being named Ohio Professor of the Year by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Higher Education. In addition to continuing his research on the United States Supreme Court, he is also developing a research agenda on the role of state supreme courts in regard to school funding, with a special focus on the Ohio Supreme Court.
