Meet Kent State President Lester A. Lefton

In July 2006, the Kent State University community welcomed Dr. Lester A. Lefton as the 11th president to lead this exceptional institution as it approaches its centennial in 2010. The photos in this essay present some highlights of his first few months at the university.

Dr. Lester A. Lefton became Kent State’s 11th president in July 2006. Previously, he was senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at Tulane University, dean of George Washington University’s Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, and dean of the University of South Carolina’s College of Liberal Arts.
