All faculty and staff members are required to display a valid Kent State University parking permit.
Parking Services supports and encourages our Kent Campus employees to try an alternative means of traveling to and from work, including walking, riding a bike, carpooling or using the local bus service provided by the Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority (PARTA). The following parking and transportation options may motivate you to save money, save the planet and/or burn calories!
In addition to the standard "R" permit, Parking Services offers these parking and transportation alternatives:
- RED R-EVENING* - $52 Year/$26 Semester: This permit allows parking after 4 p.m. in your assigned "R" lot, and also offers day-time parking in the Allerton Sports Complex and Summit East lots. During summer, winter and spring break, you may park at anytime in the "R" lot designated on your permit.*
- MOTORCYCLE PERMIT* - $10/Year: Motorcycles are efficient forms of transportation that impact the environment minimally, can get more than double the fuel economy of cars, and are easy to park. With this parking permit, you can park in one of the many motorcycle spaces located throughout the main campus.
- FREE ALLERTON SPORTS COMPLEX NC PERMIT*: During fall and spring semesters, (1st day of classes through finals week), this permit entitles you to park only in the Allerton Sports Complex lot. This permit is not valid in any other campus lot at any time during this time period. During summer, winter and spring break, you may park in any "C" lot.
- PARTA: It is easy to get around Kent State and the Kent area without a vehicle. Kent State's partnership with PARTA (Portage Area Regional Transit Authority) ensures reliable transportation that serves the campus as well as the surrounding communities and shopping areas. It's FREE with your Kent State ID! For further information regarding transportation options, visit: http://www.partaonline.org
- CARPOOL: Are you interested in car pooling to Kent State? Post an advertisement in the e-Inside message board to find others who might be going your way!
- HIKE, BIKE OR WALK! FREE: Dust off your bikes or put on your walking shoes! The Portage Hike and Bike Trail is a great way to get to work. Once on campus, take advantage of the Esplanade and other pedestrian systems around and throughout campus.
* Please read the complete regulations for each of these permits prior to choosing your permit.
