The Center for Nursing Research at Kent State University explores various problems and outcomes in many different clinical and non-clinical settings. The Center provides infrastructure, leadership and mentorship to support faculty research and scholarship. In addition, the Center supports students in their research and scholarly endeavors.

Goals of the Center for Nursing Research include facilitating cooperative scientific endeavors, and developing recognized collaborative nursing and interdisciplinary programs of research at the local, state, regional, national and international levels.

The Center for Nursing Research formalizes the College of Nursing faculty’s commitment to research as a major responsibility of the profession and provides an environment for faculty and students to be productive. In addition, the center’s philosophy recognizes that research provides a natural bridge between practice and education for nursing knowledge.

Approximately one-third of the College of Nursing faculty are engaged in funded research, and with approximately $4.5 million in current research. The majority of this research is funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH), the Center for Disease Control (CDC), The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), as well as professional nursing organizations, numerous corporate and industry sponsors, as well as private sources provide funding for research grants.
