International News Taiwanese nurse visitors: Dr. Esther Ching-Lan Lin林靜蘭, Yueh-chih Chen陳月枝 and Dr. Shiah-Lian Chen陳夏蓮led a group of 10 master's students in nursing visited KSU this spring (2008). This is the 4th visit of faculty and staff from HungKuang University in Taichung. A group of 8 students were here to take the course, International health care policy and delivery for advanced nursing. Two of the students were for a short observation of nurse practitioners here in the United States. Students had opportunities to visit area hospitals including Robinson Memorial, Summa Health System, Cleveland Clinic and Metro health System. A highlight for the visitors was a trip to Becky Patton’s home in Lakewood. Becky, the current American Nurses Association President is a 1981 graduate of the College of Nursing. In May, Dr. Ruth Ludwick and Mrs. Yvonne Smith from the College of Nursing visited HungKuang University for a week long series of lectures. Other faculty who have visited HungKuang include Drs. Karen Budd, Director of Graduate Programs and Dr. Lenny Chiang-Hanisko.

Graduation success: Dr. Fu-Chih Lai has returned home to teach at the College of Nursing, Taipei Medical University in Taipei Taiwan. Fu-Chih started his new job February 1st, 2008. He said 2 of the classes he will be teaching are health assessment and medical-surgical nursing. Fu-Chih has had a number of interviews including both TV and paper. He said after the TV interview he got 2 more job offers. He is presenting at MNRS at the end of March and hopes to stop at Kent for a visit. |
