The Delta Xi Chapter of The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) was in the spotlight at STTI’s largest nursing research congress in current years. The conference was held in Dublin, Ireland, July 22-24. Nurses from 28 countries participated in the conference and the pre-conference. There were almost 500 paper presentations and over 800 attendees. “The attendance figures were nearly three times that of any previous research congress hosted by the honor society.” as reported by Linda Finke, RN, MSN, PhD, professional development director for the honor society.
How was Delta Xi showcased? Members of our chapter presented and we inducted 4 new members in at the impressive “Multinational Induction and Reception” held at the historic Guinness Company Storehouse in Dublin, Ireland. Ruth Ludwick, represented Delta Xi at the ceremony and helped with the induction of the new members At this induction of 22 new international members, both the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland, His Excellency James C. Kenny and Mrs. Anne Carrigy, President of An Bord Altranais addressed the group.
Delta Xi was only one of six chapters inducting new members. Other groups inducting members were Rho Chi Chapter, the Netherlands; Xi Omicron Chapter, Australia, Alpha Mu, Cleveland, Ohio; Eta Chi Chapter, George Mason University and Xi Chapter. For a complete list of inductees click here.

Delta Xi’s first inductee was Dr. Marion Wright. Dr. Wright has been a regular visitor and is an Adjunct Faculty member at the College of Nursing. Dr. Wright first came to Kent State in 2000 when she received a Leverhulme Study Abroad award to work on research at Kent State. Dr. Hugh McKenna, who is the Dean of Faculty of Life and health Sciences, also is active with the College of Nursing as he serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the Online Journal of Issues in Nursing (OJIN).
Other active members of the Delta Xi family in N. Ireland include: Jenny Boore, Professor of Nursing, Co-coordinator of Academic Affairs in Nursing at the University of Ulster, Margaret Gordon, Director Nursing & Quality, Causeway Health and Social Services Trust, Balleymoney, N.
