Center
for nursing research
Established in 1991
Welcome to the Kent State College of
Nursing Center for Nursing Research.
Research and
Scholarship is at the core of our mission to improve education, practice and
patient outcomes through science. Our commitment in the Center is to
provide infrastructure support, leadership, and mentoring for faculty.
The Center supports students in their research and scholarly endeavors.
Goals of the Center for Nursing Research include facilitating cooperative
scientific endeavors and developing recognized collaborative nursing and
interdisciplinary programs of research at the local, state, regional, national
and international levels.
The Center
for Nursing Research formalizes the College of Nursing faculty’s commitment to
research as a major responsibility of the profession and provides an
environment for faculty and students to be productive. In addition, the
center’s philosophy recognizes that research provides a natural bridge between
practice and education for nursing knowledge.
Approximately
one-third of the College of Nursing faculty is engaged in funded research. The
majority of these research grants are funded by the National Institute of
Health (NIH), the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the U.S. Department of
Health and Human Services – Health Resources and Services Administration
(HRSA), as well as professional nursing organizations, numerous corporate and
industry sponsors, and other private sources.
