Ernst & Young’s John Relic Chosen as Kent State’s Accounting Alumnus of the Year (05/06/2009)

The Kent State University College of Business Administration recently honored John D. Relic with its Accounting Alumnus of the Year Award. The award is given to a Kent State alumnus whose career accomplishments and service to the university are determined to be among the best by the External Relations Committee of the Department of Accounting.

Relic is an audit partner in the Cleveland office of Ernst & Young. For more than 37 years he has served a diversified group of clients in the manufacturing, retail and distribution sectors. He has extensive experience with multi-national, publicly held companies and with the reporting requirements of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Relic has acted as the Global Client Service Partner for many Ernst & Young multi-national publicly held clients including The J.M. Smucker Company, The Sherwin-Williams Company and American Greetings Corp. He has also served as Managing Partner of the Detroit office of Ernst & Young.

A Richfield resident, Relic has also served a seven-year term on the Accountancy Board of the State of Ohio and is a past president of the Greater Cleveland/Akron Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors. He is also a valued member of the Kent State Department of Accounting Advisory Council and an active supporter of the university’s programs.
