Kent State Names Chandler Senior Associate Provost

Dr. Timothy J. L. Chandler, dean of the College of the Arts, has accepted the position of Senior Associate Provost.  Dr. Chandler will assume his new administrative role on January 15. As Senior Associate Provost, Dr. Chandler will work closely with the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs to provide leadership in performing needs assessment, developing strategic objectives and university-wide policies and procedures.

Prior to his appointment as dean, Dr. Chandler served as associate dean of the College and as professor in the School of Exercise, Leisure and Sport. In addition, he has held faculty appointments at De Montfort University, Syracuse University and Stanford University. He received a Ph.D. in education and a master’s in history from Stanford University, a master’s in physical education from Dalhousie University and a bachelor’s degree in English and physical education from Loughborough University.

A national search will begin shortly for the position of Dean, College of the Arts.
