1. Healthy Eating During the Holidays -
Winter is a season of holidays, football bowl games and family gatherings complete with delicious, tempting and delectable foods. While it might seem like a struggle to eat healthy, the key is to make a variety of healthy food choices and limit portion sizes, according to Dr. Natalie Caine-Bish, Kent State assistant professor of nutrition. Some suggestions include never arriving with an empty stomach, running away from buffets, planning before diving in and dealing in moderation. According to Dr. Ron Stolle, Kent State assistant professor of finance and instructor of the "Me and My Money" course, by taking some easy and practical steps today - like educating yourself financially and tracking your every expense - you can actively plan your financial future. 3. Financial Crisis, Bailouts & You the Taxpayer - Bailout mania is all the rage in Washington.  First came the U.S. government's bailout of mortgage giants, insurance and financial companies. What does it mean for taxpayers and middle class workers who have mutual funds and 401k retirement plans invested in stocks? Will this be the elixir needed to cure the financial markets ills? 1. Minority Business Accelerator Class Introduced -
The Partnership for the Minority Business Accelerator (PMBA), a consortium of Kent State University, Akron Urban League and Akron SCORE revealed its client companies at Kent State's 2008 Entrepreneurship Extravaganza. The PMBA is a two-year business accelerator program serving African-American and Hispanic business owners in Medina, Portage and Summit counties through a grant from the GAR Foundation. 2. Kent State Snares Air Force Contract to Advance Fuel Cell Development - Kent State will help international science and technology enterprise Battelle commercialize a new generation of advanced fuel cells. The overall contract could have numerous applications in the military and

3. Kent State Inks Lease for Anchor Tenant in Centennial Research Park - Kent State and AlphaMicron recently announced that a lease agreement that will enable AlphaMicron to expand its manufacturing operations into most of Kent State's Centennial Research Park. The 41,000 square foot research park will now house two high-tech start-up companies that have their roots in liquid crystal research activities launched at Kent State.
