About ICI

The Institute for CyberInformation was founded by Kent State University in 1999 as the Ohio Institute for Information Research and Management. The name was changed in September 2000 to reflect more accurately the Institute’s current mission, which is to conduct interdisciplinary research and to support university-industry partnerships as they relate to the application and integration of digital information technologies for knowledge management.

The Institute operates under the auspices of the College of Communication and Information at Kent State. Research projects involve faculty and students from schools and departments throughout Kent State’s eight-campus network in Northeast Ohio. The Institute also relies on a professional board of advisers comprised of representatives from public and private organizations as well as from within Kent State to provide guidance and to help shape its research agenda.
