Educational School Programs
Educational School Programs
The Kent State University Ice Arena offers a wide variety of educational classes ranging from field trips to our facility to programs taught at your school during a normal school day. The KSU Ice Arena programs are offered to teach children the basics of skating and hockey, and to provide a learning experience through a fun filled environment.
Physical Education Classes
The Kent State University Ice Arena, in collaboration with many local school districts, provide physical education classes for children in grades K-8. Over the past three years, the KSU Ice Arena has provided classes for schools in Kent, Tallmadge, Stow, and various other public and private schools. The KSU Ice Arena provides all of the equipment needed for classes such as sticks, balls, nets, and instructors.
The purpose of our classes is to provide children with a basic instruction to the game of ice hockey. Please contact Bill Switaj at (330) 672-2415 for additional information regarding physical education classes.
Field Trips to the Ice Arena
A visit to our facility provides an educational and fun field trip for children. We provide an experience that can be customized to meet your school's needs. Some of our field trips include a "Behind the Scenes" tour of the KSU Ice Arena, ice skating lessons, public skate session, lunch, and pictures with the Zamboni. Please contact Laura Russo, Graduate Assistant at (330) 672-2415 for additional information regarding field trips.
After School Skating Club
The After School Skating Club is a program offered by the KSU Ice Arena to provide children with a skating program directly following the school day. The Kent State Ice Arena will make arrangements with a Bus Service to pick up the children directly after the conclusion of the school day and transport them to the KSU Ice Arena. We provide chaperone's at the school to aide in the process of directing children to the correct bus, and at the ice arena for the skating session. The program runs once a week for 3-5 weeks, depending on the need of the school. Please contact Laura Russo, Graduate Assistant at (330) 672-2415 for additional information regarding The After School Skating Program.
