Influenza

Influenza is currently the biggest communicable disease threat to the health of Ohioans.  This year has the potential to be worse than usual, with the advent of a new strain -- "pandemic H1N1," which emerged in April and has persisted throughout the summer.  This Web site is your gateway to everything you need to know about influenza for the 2009-2010 season.

By taking some very simple precautions, you can significantly reduce your risk of contracting the flu and protect yourself and co-workers.

Know the Symptoms

Symptoms of the flu can include a high fever (102-104 degrees), chest discomfort/cough, body aches, headache and/or exhaustion. Often the symptoms start suddenly and people can pinpoint exactly when their symptoms started (i.e., "I was fine at 10, but by 10:30 I was really sick") Stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat and other symptoms of the common cold are usually not prominent.
