English Minors

The Department of English offers two distinct minors, the Minor in English and the Writing Minor. Students in the English Minor take the "core" courses of the minor plus a selection of major courses. The Writing Minor offers students the opportunity to take a number of writing classes and to complete their minor with a Writing Portfolio.

In addition, the Department of English offers a Undergraduate Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, and the College of Arts and Sciences offers a Minor in Comparative Literature.

The Minor in English

Core Courses (9 hours)
    Eng 25001 Literature in English I
    Eng 25002 Literature in English II
    Eng 30001 Introduction to English Studies

Distribution Requirements (9 hours)
One course from each of the following areas:

    Historical Courses
    Genre Studies, Cultural Studies, Literary Theory
    Writing and Language Studies

Electives (3 hours)             

Total Hours 21*
     *At least 12 hours must be upper division
