More Information about this degree

Degree Level or Certificate Type: Graduate

Program Description:

The School's 12-12-12 Distance Degree Program is part of the Kent State School of Library and Information Science (SLIS), which is the only graduate program accredited by the American Library Association in Ohio. The 12-12-12 program is well-balanced and leads to an MLIS degree for students in Ohio who might otherwise not be able to complete a degree through the school. Most of the courses will be offered by interactive, two-way video conferencing to 3-4 external locations. Students in the remote sites view the instructor on video screen or monitors, but all students can participate in class discussions.

Delivered by:  Interactive Video

Admission/Prerequisite Requirements:
Admission to the program requires that students must have completed an undergraduate degree. Regular admission is generally granted to applicants who have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0, or another master's degree with a minimum graduate GPA of 3.0.

Percent of program offered at a distance:  95-98%

Other delivery methods: The remaining 5-2% of the courses can be completed (without attending videoconferencing classes at the 12-12-12 sites) in a variety of ways, including taking courses in Kent or Columbus, taking a web-based class, completing a practicum and/or an individual investigation, transferring up to 6 graduate credit hours from another university, and/or taking up to 4 credit hours of workshops.
