Zone Maintenance
Campus Environment and Operations’ Zone Maintenance crews provide maintenance on a daily basis in academic buildings and residence halls. Zone Maintenance provides service and repair of minor plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and electrical items throughout the buildings. Zone crews also provide services for departments needing various projects performed such as picture and shelf unit hanging to installing computer trays on desks. The Zone crews are typically the first contact for maintenance needs in the academic buildings.
There are six Zone offices located throughout the campus to provide building services within their respective areas. The Zones consist of between eight and eighteen buildings, dependent upon the particular Zone and the number of academic buildings or residence halls in close proximity.
The All Campus Preventive Maintenance (ACPM) crew performs the servicing of the majority of HVAC related equipment such as air handling units and pumps throughout the academic areas and some auxiliaries. The ACPM crews lubricate bearings; change air filters and perform a variety of tasks on equipment using a preset schedule to keep equipment running at peak efficiency. The ACPM crew and Zones work closely to provide timely service of the various pieces of equipment.
The ACPM crew also handles 24/7 coverage to the entire Kent campus, after hours, weekends and holidays.
